BON VOYAGE

Spring Summer 2013 Collection

The inspiration behind Nova Chiu’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection had the creative duo road tripping on new adventures to find the perfect scenery. Since their debut last season, the pair have been sourcing new places for inspiration. They decided to take a long road trip across North America. They started off in Toronto and made their way to Vancouver, crossing through the USA. On their journey they visited The Badlands National Park in South Dakota, Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, Glacier National Park in Montana, and Mount Rainier National Park in Washington State. During their journey they discovered scenic landscapes which included; mountains, valleys, trees and rivers. They took

various photos of these new found sceneries and turned them into magnificent prints for this collection.

They manipulated the coloring of the photos and used their newly discovered prints on delicate fabrics such as; silk, satin, and organza. This collection uses a similar color palette to their previous collection with a plethora of eye-popping bright colors. Ruching details have been applied to the organza to give the garments a textured look and feel. The silhouettes range from soft silk dropped dresses to a tuxedo jacket and trousers. A variety of color blocking was used throughout the collection and the paneled mini-skirt made out of Old Faithful bookmarks set the tone for what this collection represents.

As they drove for hours upon hours they decided that the most interesting parts of the drive should be captured on film. Once they got back they edited the flim and condensed it into a three minute video to be shown before their Spring/Summer 2013 catwalk show.
